See the Web Page ---------------- http://begonias.bbso.caltech.edu has general information on the BBSO Linux network and the available software as well as some simple Unix instruction tutorials. Accelerated X from Xi Graphics: ------------------------------- Because the three Dell Pentium II 266 machines came with the Matrox Millennium II video card, which the version of XFree86 available at the time did not support, we purcased three copies of Xi Graphics's Accerlated X. (I really like this product - installation and configuration is VERY easy and it's fast!) We own licenses 132930, 132226, and 132227, but all installations (Sundowner, Roses, and Magnolia) are using the Registration Number 132930 as that is the one we got first and instead of waiting for the other two copies, Xi tech support said go ahead and use the same number for all three installs. IDL --- We have three floating Linux licneses for IDL. We bought one first and it is IDL Install #4696. The other two floating licenses are IDL Install # 17600. IDL lives in /local/rsi the shared SCSI disk on begonias. To add the additional two licenses (#17600), we just changed the /local/rsi/idl/license.dat file. We also own a node-locked Linux license (Install # 17601) which is now installd on Kline to be used for daily IDL operations like Auto_K, and whatever we do at the end of day, perhaps. The local set of IDL routines are kept in /local/rsi/idl/userlib here on begonias and is exported to the Sparc Stations.
